Exercises For Gluteal Muscles – Personal Trainer London
These are some of the best exercises for the gluteal muscles. The gluteal muscles consist of 3 main muscles, which are the Gluteus Maximus, Gluteus Minimus & Gluteus Medius.
Gluteus Maximus Muscle.
The Gluteus Maximus is a power house muscle and is used for dynamic movements such as squatting, jumping running and cycling just to name but a few.
There are 3 exercises that I recommend for the gluteus Maximus
Exercises for the Gluteals – Gluteus Maximus:
The Bridge exercise is one of the best exercises for isolating and strengthening the gluteus maximus. As well as isolating the gluteals it is also a great compound exercise for the body.
It can be used as part of a weight loss routine. This is one of the most versatile exercises available and is worth having in your arsenal.
Lunge and reach
This is not an exercise that you will see very commonly. However, it is an amazing exercise for the gluteals.
The position of the body forces the glutes to work in order to make sure you don’t fall flat on your face.
It is impossible to get into this position without the gluteals being forced to work. The key to this exercise is to make sure you do not bend your knees too much.
If you bend your knees excessively then the quadriceps are able to work harder and take the work of the gluteus maximus.
This exercise is very similar to the bridge exercise and really isolates the gluteals. If for whatever reason you need to strengthen your glutes I reccomend this exercise highly.
It is also a great core exercise as you can also activate your transverse abdominal muscles.
Although the squat exercise doesn’t isolate the glutes as well as the exercises, it is also a great exercise to perform to improve glute strength. Find out how to do a squat here in this post.
