Gerald has trained me for many months now, I do 3 x 1 hour a week which I believe is a minimum to really develop and maintain the level of strength and fitness I am looking to achieve.
Gerald is a fantastic personal trainer. He impressed me with his passion and knowledge of swimming, so I decided to work with him privately. In less than 12 weeks my 100 meter time has improved by over 10 seconds, and my time for 1 has improved by nearly 10 minutes! Not only this, but he has given me great advice and guidance on injury prevention for my running.

Gerald built up a tailored training and diet plan to help me reaching my goals. He continuously motivates me, and adapts his exercises and diet recommendations to my progress and objectives. He also recommended a list of exercises I could do on my own. Since I am training with him, I lost weight and I feel fitter. Although I am not a gym fan, I really enjoy our sessions, especially the boxing exercises!
I would describe Gerald as engaging and easy to talk with, he is a good listener but rubbish at counting sets and repetitions! He is a good motivator - tough but fair and pushes me to the limit every time. He is good at explaining the reason for doing an exercise and the benefits it brings to my sports, plus he has a good sense of humour and personality - very likeable.

In the rowing year from September 2010 to July 2011, Gerald Smith followed and designed the strength and conditioning programme for the London Rowing Clubs squads. The programme was designed for rowing and looked at developing the specific range of motion, power and strength required to perform well in races. Whilst the programme was the same for the squad of 40 athletes, Gerald was quick to point out individual points for each athlete to work on.
I first weighed 119kg when I joined the gym and I had no intention of having a trainer, but then I came into contact with Gerald and of course he was nothing like the preconceived stereotype. What I initially liked is that he sat me down for 30-45 minutes and went through my whole history and where I wanted to go, which was basically to improve fitness and lose weight. This was followed by an assessment where he gauged my fitness and flexibility. I had no idea how inflexible I was - I didn't even realise it was an issue.

Gerald has worked with me and the players for almost a year. The improvement in the players' fitness has been outstanding and his work with the players extremely impressive. His sessions are always well-structured, thoroughly planned and designed to meet the individual needs of the players, which often involves considerable differentiation in session content. The content is always appropriate for the level of the players and the training is challenging, thoughtful, but most importantly made enjoyable for them.
